American Studies B.A. Degree Plan
Requirements for a Major in American Studies
A. All specific and group requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree.
B. Thirty-three semester hours including the following:
- JOU/FDM 1303 (Introduction to Mass Communication)
- AMS 4385 (Seminar in American Studies).
C. Twenty-seven semester hours of additional courses numbered 3000 or above, with no more than twelve credits from one area such as history, political science, or religion, etc. chosen from the lists below. (Note: Some areas have less than twelve credits offered.)

- History: HIS 3360, 3362, 3371, 3380, 4354, 4362, 4363, 4365, 4368, 4369, 4371, 4374,
- 4375, 4378, 4380, 4383, 4384, 4386, 4392, 4395, 4396, 4398.
- Philosophy: PHI 4318, 4342.
- Political Science: PSC 3310, 3320, 3322, 3330, 3339 (cross-listed as REL 3339), 3340,
- 3353, 4300, 4320, 4361, 4381.
- Religion: REL 3339 (cross-listed as PSC 3339), 3344, 4336, 4338.
- Sociology/Anthropology: SOC 3311, SOC 4322, SOC 4366, ANT 3350, ANT 4353.
